Garden Wedding: Planning Tips for the Bride and Groom

Published on April 17th, 2009 by dorischua, under Garden Wedding, Wedding Planning & Wedding Shopping. (No Comments).

Have you considered the beautiful effect that bright yellow sunflowers might have as part of your garden wedding?  Even if sunflowers are not your favorite, a garden wedding is always a lovely choice.

Although many brides have enjoyed the use of color as part of their wedding over the past few years, times are changing. Today’s brides are choosing to return to the traditional white wedding. And a white wedding gown can look absolutely stunning when surrounded by beautiful and colorful flowers.

$150.00
Because flowers are symbols of life and beauty no wedding is complete without them. Nature is all around us just waiting to give us inspiration. Of course, not every woman is the same, and some choose to carry the idea of a white wedding throughout the event, including the wedding flowers.

If you are planning to have a garden wedding then the following seasonal wedding shopping guide is definitely something you will need:

Spring: Choose pastel shades of blue, pink, purple and light yellow.
Summer: Baby blue, magenta, canary yellow and white are ideal for a summer garden wedding.
Fall: This is the time for the rich colors of burgundy, red, burnt orange, gold and brown.
Winter: Winter garden weddings look wonderful with white, red, deep wine, green and, of course, chocolate brown.

$350.00
Whether you are wanting particular flowers for your bridesmaids or centerpieces it is important that you bear in mind that flowers are seasonal. You cannot choose the flowers until the date has been set, and then you will know what season it will be in.

You might already have the garden setting for your wedding confirmed already, and so now it is time to decide the style of the wedding. Many women want fashionable and special summer weddings and tend to choose shades of pink and green. These two colors work well together and are ideal for any number of moods and effects. The two colors also suit both the bride and the groom.

As already mentioned, flowers are seasonal. If you have set your heart on a particular flower that is not available at home, you would then have to have them imported from a place that is experiencing the season. Of course, this is an expensive solution to a problem that can be easily avoided.

$60.00
In order to avoid problems and disappointment it is advisable that the bride make use of a florist or designer. You will be able to discuss with her the choices you like and those you are not too keen on. She will be able to advise you about which flowers are in season, or suggest alternatives for you.

Of course, as with most weddings, yours might be on a budget. This means that it is necessary to plan the wedding thoroughly n order to determine how much you are able to spend on each area and phase of the wedding. Remember though, the prices tend to add up quickly. However, with the proper planning your garden wedding will be a day full of happy memories.

Tropical Wedding: Inspiring Tips for Your Wedding Ceremony

Published on April 7th, 2009 by dorischua, under Tropical Wedding, Wedding Planning & Wedding Shopping, Wedding Themes. (No Comments).

It takes a lot to beat a wedding ceremony in a tropical paradise but even a tropical wedding theme is beautiful. If you choose to start your married life as husband and wife with an exquisite tropical wedding then you will have to ensure that you are not distracted by other items not suited to a tropical theme when you do your shopping for favors for your guests.

$61.99
Although you will need to do some careful planning in order to have your tropical wedding it will be worth it. Remember that every part of the wedding needs to fit with the tropical theme, from the decorations that you choose, to the outfits those in the wedding party will wear. Another feature that needs to also be along the lines of a tropical theme are the favors that you supply for all the guests.

There are countless tropical wedding favors available that would be perfect to give to your guests. Wedding favors are your way of thanking the friends and family who attend the wedding, so you should not only select ones that are tropical but that are useful and beautiful. With some shopping around you can meet these criteria while staying within your budget.

Picture frames can make wonderful tropical wedding favors. Try to buy frames that have a tropical feel to them, perhaps with palm trees or even ocean life on them. If you are not able to find tropical themed frames then buy ordinary plain ones and get creative. You can always attach shells to them and make them tropical, useful and personal.

$30.00

You could also consider giving your guests candles and candle holders. You will have no difficulty at all finding either to fit in perfectly with your tropical wedding.

Of course, whenever one imagines a tropical paradise one usually also imagines a palm tree swaying in the breeze at sunset. Everyone knows that the tropics and palms go hand in hand. Bearing that in mind, you should look for items that contain palm trees as this will give an instant tropical feel to the gift.

And let us not forget that the sea and its creatures can also make interesting and practical gifts. You will be able to find many potential tropical wedding favors with dolphins, starfish and seahorse designs. Cookies cut in the shapes of these creatures can be given in a decorated box.

By now you have probably realized that there are plenty of tropical themed gifts that you can choose as wedding favors. All you need to do is make sure that they are tasteful and useful, after-all, you do want your guest to like and appreciate them. Of course, if like most people, you have a budget, then make sure that you do not exceed it and end up spending too much of it on the wedding favors. By using these ideas and applying them to your tropical wedding, you will be able to find great, reasonably priced, wedding favors that compliment your special day.

Don’t Forget the Kids When Doing Your Wedding Shopping!

Published on March 25th, 2009 by dorischua, under Wedding Planning & Wedding Shopping, Wedding Reception. (No Comments).

Most of us tend to forget the children when we are busy preparing for our wedding day and usually we don’t even think about them when we plan our wedding shopping list! The next posts will focus on 12 Ways to Entertain Children on your Wedding Day and here are 6 tips to kick off this 2-part series:

Weddings are family occasions and banning kids isn’t usually an option so here are some wedding shopping and simple ideas for keeping the children happy so you can keep the spotlight firmly where it belongs – on you!

1. Make sure that parents are told that their children are welcome but they are responsible for keeping them quiet in church. Ask that if their child creates a fuss that they take them outside so that the wedding isn’t interrupted. It’s a reasonable request if made diplomatically so it shouldn’t meet with any hostility!

2. Involve some of them in the wedding itself – perhaps as flower girls, junior ushers or even readers of bible passages where appropriate. When children feel part of the process they are less likely to spoil it! Besides, they get to be part of the wedding shopping too!

3. When planning a wedding, check if it’s ok with the church leaders to leave some children’s comics or books at the end of some of the rows of seats so that parents can give them to their children if they become restless. If the church objects to usual reading material, ask if you can leave things such as coloring books related to bible stories etc. This will also make your wedding shopping easier when you scout for these simple activity kits for the children.

$21.95

4. Ask the church official conducting your service to remember that there are children going to be in attendance and while you don’t want to cut anything out of the service, the children’s attention span could be kept in mind when the official was planning any sermon.

5. If there are hymns to be sung during your wedding, make these appropriate for all ages (Sunday school hymns for example) and not just the older guests. Keep these little things in mind when doing your wedding shopping for your wedding music.

6. Consider having many of the children at the same wedding reception table so that you can create a children’s area. Another wedding idea could be to have the tableware child themed so that the children aren’t using crystal glass etc but something more appropriate for their ages. Wedding shopping for children’s ware doesn’t have to be extravagant. Coloured and child-friendly cutlery can be bought in kitchen and superstores.

6 Tips for the Perfect Wedding Reception when Planning a Wedding

Published on March 10th, 2009 by dorischua, under Wedding Ceremony, Wedding Planning & Wedding Shopping, Wedding Reception. (No Comments).

Planning a wedding is never a breezy task, so is creating the perfect wedding reception. You have read about the 6 Top Wedding Shopping Tips for an unforgettable wedding reception, here are six more tips to make sure your wedding shopping and planning goes on well without a problem.

1) So you have done your wedding shopping. Now it’s time to create a schedule of events for the wedding reception and give a copy to everyone in the main bridal party. This should include the names of those who are responsible for specific things such as ensuring that the guests have somewhere to hang up their outdoor clothing, and who the wedding reception venue personnel should talk to if they have a problem.

2) Keep things simple. Everyone wants a unique wedding reception, but unique doesn’t have to be complicated. The less elements there are to your wedding, the easier you will keep control of things going the way you want them. If you are planning a themed wedding, try to make it a visual thing rather than going all the way and serving a Victorian banquet menu – you can have a Victorian wedding without serving pheasant! That makes your wedding shopping alot easier too!

$225.00
3) Experiment with your hair and accessories before the wedding day, ideally after you are finished with your wedding shopping. If you’re going to color your hair, or perm it, or add extensions, or even have it cut, this should be done the week before so that your hair has time to settle before your wedding day. Make sure that the style you choose will work through the wedding, and then the wedding reception. If you’re having a change of clothes, can you get out of your wedding dress and into your next outfit without ruining your hairstyle? Make sure one of your bridesmaids is able to help you tuck any stray hairs back into place throughout the day.

4) Make sure you get what you’re paying for when planning a wedding. If your bridal reception includes wedding reception decorations, check what this means in advance so you’re not disappointed on the day. Otherwise, you might need to do your wedding shopping for decorations on your own. Ask the venue organizer to show you what they will provide. Will the venue charge you extra for cutting the wedding cake if they haven’t provided it? Will they allow you to bring your own wedding cake and/or wine onto the premises? Small details such as this can add stress to your wedding day so sort them out in advance.

$55.00
5) If you’re booking a DJ for the wedding reception, ask them for a play list so that you know the kind of music that they will provide. Ask if they will take requests. Ask if they will interact with the guests at your wedding so that you can make announcements etc through the DJ once the music begins. If not, you would need to get some music CDs during your wedding shopping. Once the meal is over, and everyone is enjoying themselves, the DJ or band become a central part of the wedding reception so don’t go on someone else’s recommendation – check it out yourself.

12. Have fun. Having done all your wedding shopping and delegated most of the organization on the big day to your friends and family members, relax and enjoy the day as it happens. Planning a wedding is tough enough and it  may not be 100% what you thought it should be, but as long as you and your husband have a great day full of love and laughter surrounded by the people you care about, then that’s all that you should remember in the years to come.

6 Top Wedding Shopping Tips for An Unforgettable Wedding Reception

Published on March 2nd, 2009 by dorischua, under Wedding Planning & Wedding Shopping, Wedding Reception. (One Comment).

When you find yourself seriously searching for ideas while wedding shopping, continue reading.

Planning the perfect wedding reception can take a while and cause unnecessary stress; it is not something you can do fast and easy. Many wedding organizers suffer from stress while trying to ensure that all goes well on such a special day. Various components of your wedding decorations will need to be in place for your wedding day.

When you decide not to hire a professional wedding planner and then do all your wedding shopping yourself, you will find these 6 great ideas a lifesaver. Here we offer you some interesting wedding reception ideas that can be very helpful while planning your very own wedding reception.

$28.00
You should begin your wedding shopping as soon as you can. Plan to have all your wedding reception accessories in their place the day before your wedding if you can. For instance, along with your wedding reception decorations you should leave your change of clothing for the honeymoon at the bridal reception area. While you are there, take some time to visit with any staff members who will be on duty during the day of your wedding reception and make sure they know what it is you need.

If your cake vendor is not delivering your wedding cake for you, consider picking up the wedding cake the day before your wedding. Remember, to find out if the cake requires any type of special overnight storage on the same day that you make your cake reservations. Call ahead of time to make sure that it is available for pick up the day before the wedding.

$119.99
Plan on having all your wedding reception decorations delivery to your wedding reception as early as you can. Remember any fresh floral arrangement should reach your wedding reception destination in the early morning of your wedding. Let the location staff know they can expect your flowers as well as where you want them to place the arrangements.

You will need to involve your friends and family members. In order to ensure that all the wedding reception location arrangements are properly attended, ask at least one person to help you with your wedding shopping. However, keep in mind that the person you ask to help with this is not one of your wedding attendants. You will need to know that your wedding attendants are where you need them to be rather than searching for missing pieces of tableware or polishing the dust off glassware so that it gleams.

Appoint someone to be responsible for ensuring everyone has transportation from your wedding venue to your wedding reception sites. Unless you have your ceremony at the same venue as the reception, you will always find there is someone who turns up and doesn’t have a ride to the reception. Make sure that you have someone who can co-ordinate travel for those who don’t have their own transport on the day.

You will also need to assign someone responsible for making sure the children are entertained during your wedding reception. Although, weddings are family affairs there may be children who cannot keep still or quiet during the wedding speeches. Remember the children while you are wedding shopping. You can keep your younger guests happy by having on hand some coloring books and crayons. Designate one of your bridesmaids to help prevent any potential problems, since you do not want the children to bother with any of your wedding reception decorations as well!

Put Your Best Face Forward with the Perfect Bridal Makeup

Published on February 15th, 2009 by dorischua, under Bridal Beauty. (No Comments).

Besides your dress, makeup is the most important feature of your total look as you walk down the aisle on your wedding day. Because of this it is important that you have the perfect bridal makeup so that you present a graceful look.

You can create different moods when you put on your bridal makeup.  The environment where you will get married can determine how it will turn out. As an example, when you are getting married inside a church or a hall you won’t have to worry about the wind or the sun. If you are getting married on a beach you will have to worry about the water spray that comes up from the water in some cases as well as the other elements from the environment.

All of these things must be taken into consideration when you prepare your bride makeup or it could have serious consequences (you will be embarrassed, I promise!). Here are some tips to make sure you put your best face forward:

1.    Get a facial — for some people this is a no brainer but for others this may not enter your mind. However, getting a facial a few weeks before your wedding will insure that your face will be the perfect canvas to put makeup onto. You won’t want to miss this step. It may also identify problem spots that you will need to attend to on that day.

2.    Keep hydrated — most people don’t realize that your skin is influenced by the amount of water you drink. Even if you sip water throughout the day, it will have a positive affect on your face. This is also important to make sure your  comes out the way you want it to look.

3.    Pluck ahead of time — you know what I’m talking about, right? Many women decide to pluck their eyebrows on the day of their wedding and it leaves little red bumps along the line and they are really hard to cover up. If you pluck at least a week before your wedding you won’t have the bumps.

4.    Choose the right lipstick — something that will last a long time is the best bet for perfect wedding makeup. Don’t put on your makeup until just before you’re walking down the aisle. Oh – and another tip my grandmother gave me: If you want it to last a long time, put just a brief layer of powder on your lips afterward and put another coat of lipstick over that. My grandmother says this is the best way to keep kissable lips.

Make sure that you pick colors that compliment each other and your dress. If you’re not sure about the colors, it’s advisable that you do a trial run before your wedding to make sure that it does compliment your dress. This will make sure that you have the most beautiful bride makeup and it will be just one more thing that is perfect on your wedding day.

the ideal honeymoon destination

Published on February 1st, 2009 by dorischua, under Honeymoon. (No Comments).

Finding the right honeymoon spot can be an interesting adventure in itself because there are so many choices. However you can pretty much find everything and anything on the Internet. Moreover you can book all your reservations online and don’t even have to be dependent on any travel agents in the bargain.

Here are a few fun wedding destinations both in and outside the country:

Hawaii – Hawaii has always been considered as a beautiful honeymoon destination. . You actually get to go to an island that is green and see some of the most fantastic sites. Moreover you can either stay at one island or go island hopping which can be a lot of fun.

Mexico – Cozumel is another place that many honeymooners choose. It’s close to the US, so you don’t have to travel too far. Moreover it’s a secluded island, so you have your privacy and it’s very peaceful. Talk about romantic! There are Mayan ruins and a place called the Nichupte Lagoon that is very intriguing — that is if you have time to sight see it (wink!).

Caribbean – Many honeymooners opt for the Caribbean. It’s exotic, fun and a wonderful honeymoon spot. You could choose an exclusive resort or try one of the many romantic cruise packages. The cruise is a great option as well, because as a couple you are treated to champagne, chocolates and a romantic cabin. The cruise line takes extra special care of each couple and each ship has their own way of pampering you.

Colorado – Another wonderful wedding destination to go skiing, relaxing and honeymooning is Aspen or Vail Colorado. There are a variety of honeymoon packages and many are all inclusive – this means the airfare, accommodation, food and entertainment are put into one package.

shopping for bridal accessories

Published on January 12th, 2009 by dorischua, under Bridal Accessories, Wedding Planning & Wedding Shopping. (No Comments).

Shopping for my bridal accessories with my friends turned out to be a fun day. We found the perfect shoes and they perfectly match my dress. It occurred to me that shopping for bridal accessories are a very important step for every bride.

When we first started I wasn’t too concerned about what was going on but my friend Karen was quick to remind me about the shoes. She said we should always buy the shoes before we buy anything else because we wanted everything to match. Karen is my most practical friend. Did I mention I bought my shoes online? Sorry! Yes, I did. Actually I bought everything online and was very pleased with my finds.

My wedding shoes came from Stuart Weitzman and let me tell you they have some fabulous choices. I chose the Stuart Weitzman Dubonnet Wedding Shoes because they were chic and perfect match to my dress. And they are so comfy!

$89.00
My first choice was a beach wedding at first but my fiancé wanted to be inside so I couldn’t wear sandals but I love the ones I bought. I’ll tell you though, some of the best advice I got was to choose satin shoes for my silk dress. This was perfect.

Would a tiara work or would a traditional wedding veil be more appropriate? After much search, I found an elegant crystal tiara that was very helpful in describing the options. The best choice for me was the traditional wedding tiara called “Catherine Rhinestone and Crystal Tiara“. My friends talked me into buying a tiara to go with it since my friends are always calling me a princess.

When doing your wedding shopping, it is important to take your time to find your personal style. Your wedding day is the time for you to shine and show off the real you. Take your time and do your wedding research.

more about themed weddings

Published on January 7th, 2009 by dorischua, under Wedding Planning & Wedding Shopping, Wedding Themes. (No Comments).

Now when we mention the various themed weddings we can’t forget about the ones that were most famous of all. Couples have gone to Las Vegas for the Elvis wedding forever. You can go to Las Vegas, NV to have one or you can create the theme locally. Think about the movies that Elvis was in and work with it from this place.

Some people are into science fiction and there are many themes that are Star Wars or Star Trek oriented. Guests dress up to watch their Klignon bride and groom get hitched in the traditional Klingon way. Although this may seem far fetched for some, it can be interesting if you like one of these movies.

The first thing you need to do when you are planning a themed wedding is to make sure that you and your fiancé agree on that theme. The next thing is to plan it in the way you want to and make sure your friends and family know in plenty of time to find the costumes they need.

Believe it or not, you can find wedding favors, wedding invitations and anything you need to support the theme of your choice. Themed weddings have become a big business and the theme is only limited by your imagination.

So, have a great time, find a unique wedding theme that you like and go for it. This will truly be a memorable occasion.
